Median weekly rent rose slightly to $500, marking a modest year-on-year increase. The lower quartile rent increased 8% compared to last year, while the upper quartile increased 1.6% to $590 per week.
A total of 243 bonds were lodged, a 23% decrease from August last year, and 192 bonds were closed which is a 29% decrease year-on-year. Meanwhile, the average number of available listings on Trade Me increased 36% to 567, suggesting more rental properties on the market compared to the same time last year.
