Dunedin Rental Market Update - March 2025 (January statistics)
The market is showing another month of decrease in movement between properties with 84% decrease in bonds lodged year-on-year, further highlighting a consequence of changes in legislation on the market.
KEY POINTS:
- Median rent increased by 7% year-on-year to $736 per week in January.
- The lower quartile rent remained the same year-on-year which was $450.
- The upper quartile rent increased 5% year-on-year to $1,000.
- 1,329 bonds were lodged for the month which was a 66% year-on-year decrease.
- The number of closed bonds was 624, which was a 20% decrease from this time last year.
- The average number of available listings on TradeMe was 385 which is a 5% decrease year-on-year.
